Poly:hexa:methylene isophthalamide glass substitute - combines excellent impact, tensile and flexural strength, hardness, resistance to hydrolysis and modulus of elasticity
A glass substitute comprises =60 wt.% polyhexamethylene isophthalamide (I). (I) may contain is not 10 (is not 5) wt.% 6-12C aliphatic dicarboxylic acid e.g. adipic, sebacic-, or cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid, or opt. is not 40 (is not 20) wt.% 8-20C aromatic dicarboxylic acid, e.g. terephthalic-, naphthalene or benzophenone dicarboxylic acid. (I) combines excellent impact-, tensile-, flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, hardness, resistance to hydrolysis and low water absorption and may be used in lamps watch glasses, sunglasses, housings, glazing, bottles, etc.
