Synthetic pipe section having a shoulder on its outside close to its end, suitable for working with a clamping ring, also has between the shoulder and the nearest free end, on the outside, a recessed surface zone. On its outside the pipe end may have a concave surface, and the concave surface may blend into a slope leading towards the shoulder on the outside of the pipe. The concave pipe surface extends from the outer wall close to the shoulder to the nearest end of the pipe section. The synthetic pipe section is a thermoplastic, esp. a polyalkene and more esp. is of polyethylene material. In the zone of the concave outer surface, the pipe end has a reinforcement sleeve inserted into it, which for pref. is of metal or of a rigid synthetic. Used esp. with irrigation pipes which have to be disconnected and moved from place to place and reconnected quickly sealing surfaces are protected even when the pipes are dragged over the ground.
