The safety coupling for the snowchain has a T-shaped link element (30) fitted through a securing ring (18) at one end of the chain, with the next link (17) having a thickened edge (43) to prevent the ring from slipping off the T-piece. The T-piece has to be twisted through 90 deg. to loosen the chain. - The system provides a simple safety catch which allows the chain to be fitted with slightly loose links for a self cleaning action, and without any danger of the catch slipping.
