A circuit for testing a thyristor (14) oscillation current switch and displaying its characteristics under pulse loading measures the duty cycle off time of the reverse conducting thyristor to permit display of its dynamic characteristics with little circuit expenditure. In order to simulate operational pulse loading the thyristor is situated into and out of intermediate and low frequency operation with low sintering losses. The switch (3) capacitor (31) is connected in parallel with the series oscillator (1) capacitor (11) via a diode (35) supplying charge current. The charging time constant is chosen to match the charging polarity reversal to thyristor timing. The thyristor operation is accelerated by control pulses.
