Omnidirectional impact absorber for bumper - has crossed link arm extending between end of telescopic damper and bumper body

The car bumper is mounted on impact absorbing telescopic dampers (B) using special crossed support levers (3) whose outer ends are attached two places on the bumper, by pivot points. The inner ends of the levers are pivotted on a T-shaped extension of the damper. The T-shaped extension can tilt slightly and translates any off centre impact into a longitudinal displacement of the damper. The damper is designed as an impact absorbing device with a non-return ratchet.
