The appliance tests and controls the biological effects of cosmic or sidereal contrary radiation. That is to say, the components of cosmic radiation that are propagated in a vertical direction and reflected back again by minerals in the earth have been known, for reasons unknown, to cause involuntary closing of the wrists and other uncontrolled movements esp. when one is a convalescent or under the effects of the weather. To increase the biological effect, thereby proving its existence, a substance having an average relative atomic mass of less than 28 units is placed over the subject's head. To diminish the effect, a substance reflecting the radiation back to earth again is used.
