The plastics setting and heel which are to be fitted onto a leather sole are mfd. in an injection mould comprising upper and lower parts. The lower part is provided with projections which produce the markings in the sole since the plastics mass is fed into the injection mould where it first flows over the leather to produce the markings on the opposite side. The heat transferred from the molten plastics mass and the pressure arising once the mould is full are sufficient for the leather sole to take the suitable imprint. This means that a special work step to mark the sole is no longer required.
