The rotary shaft of the record disc player serves for lifting and lowering of the tone arm. The shaft (9) forms a coupling between the rear part of the tone arm and a rotary element (17) which is pivotally mounted on the record disc player about a vertical axis. The rotary shaft is supported by an intermediate member (11) which can be inserted on the rotary element, together with the tone arm mounted on the support member. The free ends (7) of the rotary shaft can be inserted into tone arm bearing shells which are open downwards. An elastic securing hook on the tone arm preferably secures the inserted rotary shaft. The latter may have an axial inserting guide (21) for the guide fins (25) of the intermediate member, the rotary element having a lug (31) for latching with the elastic securing hook (29).
