Engraving ceramic mouldings which are in plastic condition - where moulding is rolled over engraving template to obtain decorative pattern

The moulding is in a 'leather-hard' state, and is placed on a mandrel which is free to rotate; the mandrel is then lifted so an engraving template can be fed over the surface of the moulding to obtain the desired ornamental pattern. In the pref. machine, a conical or cylindrical mandrel is located on a lever arm which can be inclined w.r.t. the horizontal. The arm is supported by a carrier which can be raised or lowered by a hand lever on a frame. On the upper part of the frame are two guide bars for a trolley carrying the engraving template on its underside; and the hand lever brings the ceramic moulding in contact with the template. Provides simple and rapid engraving of ceramic mouldings to provide decoration, e.g. on jugs prior to baking. The invention eliminates costly hand decoration.
