The detector has a sensor unit with a salt content sensor for detection of salt content in a soln. of scattered salt in water, and a display device for salt content or the corresponding freezing point. The soln. is applied to the sensor unit at a distance from the road surface by a collecting device with a collecting wheel. The sensor unit (11) consists of two measurement chambers (101, 102) with large area electrodes (105, 106), connected with each other by a long, narrow channel.
