Harvesting machine for grapes - uses oscillating fingers with sheet attached at top and bottom to sweep fallen grapes onto conveyor

The machine straddles vines in rows and harvests the grapes using oscillating fingers. These grapes fall onto a conveyor and are transported to a container. The oscillating fingers are fixed to a vertical shaft (5) at each side. Behind each set, is a fabric or plastic sheet (21), the top edge fixed to the machine frame and the bottom edge to the lowest finger, this being longer than the others. The portion near the axis is held under tension by a spring or elastic; the remaining side is free to move. As the fingers oscillate, the sheet sweeps the grapes onto the conveyor.
