The water jet marine propulsion system produces waves transverse to the longitudinal propagation from a flexible immersed in water. There are two end flanges (1, 2) between a tube (3) and a flexible cover (4). The front flange (1) carries a panel (7) which is oscillated by an electric motor (8). A cover (9) keeps out fluid from the motor. On the rear of the panel it is in contact with fluid (5) and the front flange (1) has large openings (10) and there are guides (11). Fluid (12) is used to balance the pressure of the other fluid. At the rear flange is a perforated disc (13) to give rise to jets of fluid.
