The float-operated valve is for use in the storage tank to a flushing water closet and utilises a hollow water-ballasted float. The float is mounted on the end of a telescopically adjustable hollow arm. Water entering the tank issues from the valve pases through a flexible coupling and flows through the arm into the float. From the float the water flows through a further descending passage into the tank. The cover to the float includes an iar inlet which is also utilised as an overflow water outlet. The arrangement relieves the float outlet to reduce noise and cavitation caused by high pressures.
