The coating machine has means for accommodating and transporting the dry coating material to the working position via a flexible hose, moistening it fully in the process. It is supplied with the dry material by a pneumatic conveyor having a covering cowl and an exhausted air filter, together with a material feed passage. To deliver the dry covering material to appreciable heights, the air filter is dimensioned so as to cause a slight excess pressure to be generated, and the bowl and cowl enclose a volume at least twice that of the contents of the feed passage. A pressure relief valve is also provided. Guide and protective plates can be mounted in front of the filter openings, together with centrifugal separators.
