The portable and demountable screen (1) is for use on motorways to conceal and protect an accident area. The screen is supported by vertical poles (3) at horizontal intervals and comprises a flexible strip. The strip has perforations (6) to reduce the resistance to natural and traffic generated winds, and may incorporate signs e.g. chevrons (1a, 1b). The perforations (6) may be slashes, and the traffic face may be lined by reflective material which is sensitive to artificial or natural light. The poles (3) may be mounted on base blocks (5) and the joint 4) may allow the pole to flex under wind forces.
