The self-propelled beet harvester has a loader which comprises one or more gathering members arranged to feed beet continuously to the foot of a bucket elevator. This feeds an earth separator and beet cleaning unit. The gathering members may be two endless screws rotating in opposite directions on horizontal axes and placed on either side of the elevator. The gathering members and elevator may be mounted on a support which can be turned about a vertical axis.
