P Cryogenic device for bringing objects to very low temperatures, in which, by applying the blocking action of the thermomechanical effect, superfluid helium II from a storage tank is transformed into vapor through a narrow passage throttle element, and passes into an exhaust pipe in which a vacuum can be created. The throttle element is designed as a valve with a valve element movable relative to a valve sleeve, the valve element and the sleeve together forming, in the valve adjustment range, a gap wide passage of less than 10 mu and the length of which may vary within the adjustment range, the adjustment of the outlet flow rate of the valve being effected by modifying the length of the interval. /P
