1419055 Priming wood/pvc composites SONESSON PLAST AB 8 May 1974 [14 May 1973] 20214/74 Heading B2E [Also in Division B5] A composite product comprising p.v.c. and cellulosic (e.g. wood) powder is primed with a composition consisting of a thermoplastic adhesive in a solvent, and anhydrous silica of particle size #10SP-6/SPmm in suspension in the adhesive solution, the ratio of thermoplastic adhesive to silica being 0.5-2.5:1, so that the composite product may be glued by a thermosetting resin (e.g. urea, melamine or phenolic resin) to wood or an artefact comprising wood fibre. A suitable thermoplastic adhesive is a copolymer of vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, and dicarboxylic acid (84/15/1), which may be applied by spraying or brushing onto an "endless" extruded composite product.
