Cylinder unit for archeological puzzle preparation - holds earthenware intact object on central upwards point rod, has descending piston with downwards extending projections to break object
The method is for the preparation of an archeological puzzle, and involves an earthenware object being broken into fragments similar to those liable to be found in the earth. The fragments, which form the main components of the puzzle, are then packaged with a suitable adhesive. The breaking of the original object takes place in a cylinder (1) which is partly filled with earth (5), and the crushing is effected by a downwards travelling piston (6) which has tubular projections (3') of differing lengths. The object to be broken is itself supported on a central upwardly projecting cylindrical piece (3').
