In feeding rods, tubes etc. into a cutter or straightening machine, the feed-pigs for the rods, tubes etc. fold outwards to form raised nippers embracing the rods etc. The rod, tube etc. is then placed between the nipper and drive-rollers of an automatic advance mechanism, whence, when the tubes etc. are nipped by the feed-pig, they are then fed into the machine.
