The universal stone working machine is used for ginding, cutting and milling both natural stone and concrete. It has several tools and a workpiece holder moving in relation to the tool in the machining direction. The tool can be set and locked at different angles and simultaneously adjusted sideways and vertically. - The tools are diamond-tipped, and the horizontal and vertical movements of the tool support (4) and the pivoting movement of the tool (22) are effected hydraulically. Hydraulic pressure against the end stops (6, 7, 16, 17) is maintained during the entire operation, so that the tool is clamped in place during each phase. The tools, which slide independently but pivot together, each finish one surface during one forward pass, while in a second position, into which they are slid and/or tilted, they do the same on another surface during thereturn pass.
