The bimetallic element is used to control the raising and lowering of the pick-up arm of a record player. In particular the arm is only allowed to lower when the operating voltage for the player is present. - A plunger (5) located in a sleeve (R), controls the pick-up arm. Within a 'U' section channel (U) is a strip spring (B) with a coupled heating element (HD). An adjusting screw (St) allows the movement point of the strip to be set. When the set level is attained the spring moves the plunger.
