A dial is used for a measuring instrument, where the scale is illuminated from behind. It is particularly suitable for use in marine applications. It has a circular opaque dial plate with a scale which is transparent to light. - There is a circular cutout (4) in the centre of the dial plate. The dial disc (5) is circular and acts as the indicator. It is in the plane of the dial plate and is mounted on a spindle in the cutout. It has a transparent indicator pointer (6) which is made in the form of a relief pattern on the dial disc (5).
