The bottom frame (6) is fixed to the floor and carries the lower feed roll (1). This is mounted in bearings (3) at each end, these being fitted in sleeves (4) fixed in the bottom frame. End caps (7) complete the assemblies. The upper frame (8) is mounted in bearings, fitting on extensions of the lower feed roll sleeves, and can swing aprox. 20 deg. backwards about the lower feed roll axis. An hydraulic power cylinder moves this upper frame, movement being limited by a stop. The upper feed roll (2) is mounted in slides (9, 10) in the upper frame, the distance between upper and lower rolls being adjustable (11, 13).
