The housed electrostatic filter has precipitating counter electrodes consisting of conducting material applied to disc-shaped carriers. A filter space is created by the side walls, ceiling and a shut-off damper-fitted bottom. In this space the ionising and collecting zones are created. The electrodes with lead-in wires are either standing or suspended and fitted outside the filter spaced on supports. The live counter electrodes of the collecting zone have an increasing field intensity in the direction of flow. The earthed counter electrodes of the ionising zone and the earthed collecting electrodes of the collecting zone are fitted with a cleaning mechanism operated by drive elements mounted outside and filter space.
