Single-sided plating on transfer jacquard rib machines - knitting silk on cylinder, and cotton on cylinder and dial needles

The silk is only visible on the standing needles of a two-bed, Jacquard, transfer, fine rib, knitting machine, during the operation of a single-sided, silk-plating system in which the other side is knitted on cylinder and dial needles. The silk is fed by an additional yarn guide, beneath the dial needles directly to the cylinder needles, and the standing needles cast off six needles earlier than the lieing, rib needles of the dial. Espec. advantageous in the prodn. of undergarments, the greater comfort of the cotton against the skin being combined with the visual effect of the silk.
