A gas circuit for a high temp. reactor comprising a pebble bed or similar core resting on blocks of high temperature-resistant material, where the gas can flow both horizontally and vertically through this supporting block assembly, possesses the following features. The flow path for the primary coolant gas from the reactor to adjacent heat exchangers, turbines etc., comprises numerous polygonal blocks; these blocks contain ducts for the gas; the ducts make an angle with adjacent ducts; the ducts connect with adjacent ducts or with ducts of adjacent blocks. Used for an industrial reactor in which the hot gas operates heat exchangers or turbines. The arrangement eliminates the need for difficult steel-lined ducts, bends, compensating bellows and other equipment. By thoroughly mixing the hot gas as it flows through numerous interlinked ducts, temp. peaks are avoided and there is no risk of hot spocts either in the reactor support structure or in the plant items supplied with the prim. coolant.
