The ball bearing with a ring of balls (3) housed between an outer race (2) and an inner race (1) also has a cage made of an outer section (4) and inner section (4'), curved to match the rounded exterior of the balls. This cage is made of a material with lubricant trapped inside, to give a self lubricating operation. A roller bearing also has a self lubricating cage, with flat members enclosing the flat ends of the rollers between them. Alternatively, this cage can form a hollow square in cross section with one corner only of the square made of self lubricating material. In another design for ball bearings the cage consists of wedge shaped members made of self lubricating material, with concave sides in contact with the balls.
