The compact gas turbine comprises a housing (1) contg. an eccentrically arranged bladed (4) centrifugal rotor disc (2) which is so arranged that air entering centrally to the disc is compressed over half its revolution and enters a combustion chamber (9). Over the remaining half, the rotor blades act as turbine blades being moved by hot combustion gas from the chamber. This prevents overheating of the blades and provides a heat exchange effect. A semi-circular baffle (5) may be provided to prevent fresh air from entering the turbine section and hot gas from entering the compressor inlet section.
