The procedure is for loosening and/or dislodging plant bodies in the soil such as fruit or root crops. A probe is introduced into the soil up to the region below the plant body. Compressed air is then fed through the probe and released in the soil region. The compressed air is directed against the plant body and the probe is introduced at an angle. The air supply is controlled by a rapid action valve.
