Safety cut=out switch for vehicle electrics - has impact sensors linked to pressurised isolator on main battery lead

The impact safety switch is for a vehicle and has a pressurised switch linked to a gas pressure reservoir as well as to special detectors which are broken on impact. This releases the pressure and causes the switch to open the connection to the battery and hence isolate the electrics. The isolator switch has two spring loaded pistons held together by the gas pressure. The sensors can be glass covered with a plastic film, to prevent splinters or any other fractured material. The gas reservoir is filled via a non-return valve, and can be linked to the vehicle pneumatic circuit. A bypass switch (6) is fitted to allow the vehicle to be removed after a collision. The isolator switch prevents any fire started on impact due to split fuel and live electrical circuits.
