The pump delivery control system is intended for a Diesel engine fuel injection pump (1). It comprises a control unit (2-13) which selectively sets the pump in either a stop position (Z') with zero delivery, or normal running position (Y') for normal, or start position (X') for more than normal delivery, under the action of intermittent switching cams (15-27). The cams (15-27) are electrically driven (19) in response to an electrical signal which indicates that the engine is in one of the three operating positions (X, X', 16 or Y, Y', 17 or Z, Z', 18). The cams (15-27) may comprise a maltese cross type transmission (22-27) with position sensors (28, 33) for the rotary components (25, 21) of this transmission.
