The gain equaliser operates in the tens of gigahertz bands and is partic, applicable to travelling wave tubes. The equaliser is intended to be adjustable and to overcome the problems of heat dissiptation normally associated with such equalisers. The equaliser is in the form of a group of lossy resonant cylindrical cavities (2) attached to the large wall of the waveguide (1) and coupled to it be a hole (22) between it and them. The remote end of the cavity is closed off by silicon carbide pistons (23) carrying an RF absorbent circumferential ring (29).
