Recovering waste heat from buildings - by transferring heat from exhaust gases to waste waters and returning accumulated heat to system by heat pump

Heat lost from buildings is recovered by (a) collecting aq. effluent; (b) transferring heat from exhaust gases to the aq. effluent; and (c) transferring the heat from the aq. effluent by means of a heat pump, to water circulating in the heating system of the building. Plant includes a receiver for the effluent, in which are three heat exchangers and an agitator. Two of the heat exchangers transfer heat to the waste water from water heated by the exhaust gases, and water returning from the central heating system, respectively. The other is an evaporator associated with a heat pump, the plant includes an accumulator. Heat recovery is economical even if the effluent is foul and turbid, whether the gases are from systems heated by natural gas, heavy or light oils or solid fuel.
