The single phase motor has one, two or several poles formed from metal plates. Around the poles is wound alternating current windings. The whole forms a stator. A permanent magnet rotor is centred within the stator. In the case of a motor with an even number of poles (3), the longitudinal axes (x) of opposite poles form an angle between them. In the case of an odd number of poles they are regular spaced around the rotor circumference. For two poles their axes form an angle of 120 degs. for three poles their angular spacing is 120 deg.
