The orthopaedic brace helps to strengthen knee joints suffering from lax ligaments, torn cartilage or bone disorders. It comprises a system of articulating members fixed on either side of the knee and mounted on two moulded supports, one around the lower leg and the other around the thigh. The articulating members consists of a simple pinned pivot joint with the arms of the components sliding in oval cross-sectioned tubes. The oval shape restrains the sliding movement to an axial direction and the extent of the movement is limited by either a rubber collar or a rigid collar whose position can be adjusted by a screw.
