The surgical lancet comprises an elongated body (5) provided with an upper grip (4) for holding between the fingers. It contains a rod (3) passing through its length, a spring loaded knob (1, 2) being pressed down with the thumb. The lower part of the rod emerges in a guide slot, one side being partly open for placing the vessel (10) into a centring slot opposite the blade. On descending, this blade (7) is guided (9) and contacts the vessel centrally to cut a slit in its wall. Blade clearance (11) is provided below the slot and a spring return (8).
