The monitoring device is intended partic. for unconscious or post-operative patient etc. It has several microphones (10-12) or similar independently applicable to the patient's skin and screened against other sounds. The microphones are connected by transmission elements (13-15) to a receiver assembly (18, 20), providing amplification. The receiver assembly has connections for headphones (23) and for signal processing and recording appts. (22). Control elements (19) enable sequential, or simultaneous, connection of one or several microphones to the respective connections for listening, processing, or recording. Pref. between the microphones and the receiver assembly is incorporated a slow rate filter (16) with jump-type attenuation. The transmission may be over wires or of a radial type, in which case a carrier wave transmitter is connected to each microphone.
