Continuous mixing plant - incorporating standardisation of flow of liq. constituent without loss of prodn., safety problems or health problems

A device for standardising the flow of a liq. constituent of a mixt. comprises a vertical standardisation chamber and a stop valve. The vertical standardisation chamber has a discharge pipe at its upper end and graduations spaced vertically so that a fall in level from one graduation to another indicates that a known vol. of liq. has left the chamber. The stop valve allows circulation of the liq. from a storage tank through the valve upwards in the standardisation chamber and to an outlet of the standardisation device for the feeding of the liq. to a mixing appts. when the valve is open, while allowing circulation of the liq. only from the standardisation chamber to the outlet of the device when the valve is closed. A particular application is the continuous mixing of refractory granules with binding liquids used in the fabrication of foundry moulds or cores. The use of the appts. allows precise rapid standardisation without problems of loss of prodn., health or safety, or rejection of liquids.
