OIL UNLOADING USING DIAPHRAGM DISPLACED BY WATER

The tanker cargo-handling and -storage system involves separate pipe systems for cargo and water ballast respectively. Also each tank has a watertight membrane separating the two, secured to the tank along a horizontal perimetric line and flexible enough to lie against the hull when the tank is full of cargo, lie on top of the ballast water when the cargo is pumped out. Cargo and ballast pumps are controlled together, on a specific gravity difference basis, to keep total displacement constant.
