Solid liq. or gaseous additives are introduced into contaminated water by a rotating propeller into which the additive is introduced. The propeller has a hollow hub from which run passages to the surface of the blades. These are covered along the leading edge of the blade but open towards the trailing edge. The passages are covered by flights which induce suction behind them. Additive is then drawn through the hub and distributed into the liq. Optimised performance as determined experimentally can be achieved.
