Heat exchanger pipe and fin assembly - has straight coolant pipe runs enclosed by expanded metal plate

The heat exchanger includes a pipe coil which is filled with the coolant. The pipe coil has a number of straight runs connected by 180 deg. bends, and a heat exchanger plate with slots enclosing these runs for an appreciable part of their periphery. The heat exchanger plate (2) is made of expanded metal, in which ribs (3) can be formed, fitting round and gripping the pipe runs (6). The design combines high efficiency with low production costs.
