Appts. determining the radius of curvature of cables or similar can be applied at the installation site so that the permissible amount of bend is not exceeded. This can be critical for, e.g. single lead oil cables with aluminium sheathing. The appts (10) has an adjustable measuring rod (15) and three registering points (11, 12, 13) for application to the cable bow (8). The measuring rod can consist of a section (11, 14) that cannot be varied in length as well as a section (15) that can be. A spacer (12, 14) engages vertically on the former section (11, 14). The appts. (10) can consist of an L-shaped piece whose shank end points (11, 12) constitute two registering points, the third point being formed from a retractable length-measuring device.
