The rotary pump esp. of displacement or centrifugal type, comprises a rotor carried in bearings and has its shaft coupled to a drive motor. The coupling assembly comprises a magnetic coupling with a closed bush in the air gap which provides a hermetic seal between the pump section and the drive section. The bearing at the drive end and part of the coupling connection are in communication with the pump outlet side. The heat developed by the coupling and/or bearing may be used to produce circulation of the lubrication and cooling agent.
