Mine-working area ventilation and air conditioning - involves use of evaporation cold by condensing fresh air current moisture and reheating

A current of fresh air in the base gallery, in the area of transition to the working face, is led through the latter and removed via the head gallery in the form of contaminated air, to ventilate a working area in a mine. Use is made of cold caused by evaporation emanating from water existing or occurring in the working area, by cooling the fresh air current to approx. 5 deg. C. Water condensing from it is released and heated to pref. approx 20 deg. C. Relative humidity of approx. 30-40 % occurs, and the air current, thus dried, is conveyed into the working area. Pit air and climate adequate for all demands are produced without difficulty.
