The process for burning liq. and solid fuel in one central heating boiler furnace is based on using fuel oil as the liq. and injecting it through a burner. The firing cycle commences with solid fuel (3) being fed into the furnace (2) through a sealable wall-aperture (16), onto a grate (4) over an ashbox (5). The burner (10) is then flashed and ignites the solid fuel. Until a predetermined working temo. is reached both contribute to the heat output; then the burner is switched off. The solid fuel continues burning using air piped (14) from a separate blower (13) switched on at this stage.
