A two-part lock holds the figure in place on its base. The lock can be released when rapid removal of the figure is necessary, e.g. in the case of fire, by lifting it from the base by a distance of 22 mm, allowed by free-play within the lock mechanism, with subsequent insertion of a release key. The lock comprises a heavy steel cylinder and a steel plate which is secured to the pedestal by welded steel bolts, the steel cylinder is incorporated in the base of the figure and has a press cylinder lock fitted into it. The rotation of the steel cylinder is prevented by two steel pins. A micro-switch coupled to an external alarm circuit may also be incorporated in the lock.
