Securing mechanism for sail spar in hoisted position - has catch for sail head slider at top of guideway, in roller-reefing swivel pin

The mechanism for securing a sail head in the hoisted position is for sails fitted with a slider running in a guideway, automatically held by a spring-loaded catch when fully hoisted. This catch (11) is located in association with the guideway (5) and has a release-line (17) running down the latter. It is fitted in the turning-pin (3), utilised as connector for the guideway, of a roller-reefing swivel unit (1-3). The slide (4) has a notch (13) for the catch in its back face near its top end. This just clears the guideway, a stop (18) fitted in the turning-pin limiting its travel.
