Flush butt joint for two furniture panels - uses two inserts, one having special toothed hollow dowel at joint end

The edge to edge joint for two panels forming part of an article of furniture, uses two inserts fitting flush into the panels, and locked together by a rotating locking member, as in the main patent. Both inserts have externally toothed bushes which are forced into holes in the panels, forming a friction connection. One insert (24) which has an edge (31) in line with the panel edge, behind which is a recess (66) which receives the locking part of the rotating locking member. This is followed by a hollow wedge shaped portion (69) with a thinner base (34) carrying it, this forming the main surface supporting to two toothed dowels. Each side of the wedge are two sloping arms, forming two channels (67) inside the larger dowel.
