A mfr. of munition mouldings, e.g. cartridge casings or charge containers, consists of rolling fabric inlays into the crude felt during the felting operation. The woven fabric inlays may be rolled through the entire thickness of the crude felt or only into the outer skin or inner skin of the felt. The inlay may be rolled into the entire length or parts of the length. By rolling woven fabric inlays into the felt, additional strength is provided; for example, in the case of a cartridge casing this prevents breaking during rough handling. The method is partic. important where casings contain powdered explosive.
